my name is Susan, an outgoing and friendly professional nanny with 35 years of working experience. I'm a nurturing caregiver, driven by a genuine love for children and animals. Available on weekdays from morning till mid-day, I am excited to start by the 9th of October, 2023.
At a young age, being raised by a single father, I learnt to cook and till date, it has blossomed into a passion for me. This skill, coupled with my love for gardening has afforded me the ability to make well-balanced, nutritious meals for children while keeping the kitchen tidy. I'm not just talented in the kitchen; in high school, I was the only girl in a woodworking class, ending up with more power tools than most guys!
When I am not cooking, cleaning, or doing DIY home improvement, I am outside engaging in activities that refresh me. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, gardening and spending time with my two dogs. I believe that a part of growing is exploring and playing outside, hence I will always make time to guide the kids on fun nature adventures.
As a full-time nanny, I am capable of performing a range of duties which include cooking, light housekeeping, running errands, preparing meals for kids, transporting children, helping with homework, adhering to special dietary rules (vegetarian, kosher, lactose intolerant, etc.) and planning and organizing events. I can also assist with bathing and dressing children, doing children's laundry, and walking the dog or caring for pets.
Further to my practical experience, I am trained in First Aid and CPR, with a robust background working with children from newborn to over 10 years of age. I am comfortable caring for up to four children or more, and can competently cater to children with disabilities.
Residing in Hamilton, I prefer a Live-Out arrangement and I am searching for a full-time, nanny position. I'm passionate about what I do, enjoy being creative, and never fail to inject love and care into every task I perform. I look forward to meeting you and your little ones!
I started my career as a child care provider when I left home at 17 and became a live in nanny. When asked as a child, what do you want to be when you grow up?, my answer was to own my own orphanage lol. Needless to say I’ve always loved children. Most of my jobs have lasted 3 to 4 years until the children were in school and a full-time nanny was no longer needed. I have been very fortunate to have cared for a family for 16 years and watch the kid grow up into beautiful adults.
I am a hands-on caregiver. Taking the children outside to explore and learn about their surroundings (scavenger hunts were one of the favorites ) as well as Including the kids in baking and cooking is a lot of fun and helps prepare them for their future. I always include arts and crafts into part of the day. Whether it be playing with Play-Doh or finger painting their own masterpiece, being creative helps with children’s development.
My goal is to be there for the children as well as the parents. The saying it takes a village to raise the children is very true!
