Marissa P.
I’m Marissa, a 19-year-old university student from Hamilton. I’ve always loved being around kids and animals, and I grew up with pets, so caring for others has always been a big part of my life. I have a cat who is absolutely spoiled, so I know how much trust it takes to leave someone you love in someone else’s care. I really enjoy being outside, whether that’s going for walks, playing at the park, or just getting some fresh air. I’m patient, easygoing, and love keeping kids busy with games, crafts, reading stories, or whatever they’re interested in that day. I also don’t mind helping around the house with things like tidying up, laundry, dishes, or pet care if it makes your day a little easier.
For the past year and a half, I’ve worked as a nanny, housekeeper, and pet caregiver for a family, caring for one child from the time she was 3 months old until now at 22 months. Watching her grow from a tiny baby into an adventurous toddler has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. My days included everything from diaper changes, bottles and meal prep, naps, bedtime routines, reading stories, singing songs, tummy time, and planning fun, age-appropriate activities that supported her development. As she got older, we spent lots of time playing, going for walks, exploring outside, and encouraging her independence while always making sure she felt safe and loved. Along with childcare, I helped keep the home clean and organized by doing laundry, dishes, tidying, and other household tasks. I also cared for the family’s dog by feeding, walking, and making sure they had plenty of attention and exercise. Building a close relationship with both the child and her family has been incredibly meaningful to me. I love creating a calm, fun, and caring environment where children feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn.
