Sydney S.
My name is Sydney, and I’m a caring, reliable, and energetic caregiver with a strong background in child and youth support. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and am currently completing a certificate in Mental Health and Addictions. During the school year, I work as an Educational Assistant with the Halton District School Board, supporting children with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, and behavioural challenges. Now that school is out for the summer, I’m excited to focus on nannying and providing full-time support to families. I come from a big, close-knit family and have always enjoyed working with children. In addition to my EA experience, I’ve worked in developmental support roles through Community Living and Central West Specialized Developmental Services. I’ve also volunteered as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, supporting young girls in school-based programs. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, going for walks, cooking, and staying active. I love coming up with fun, creative activities to keep kids engaged, learning, and happy. I’m patient, communicative, and deeply committed to helping children grow in safe and nurturing environments. I’d love the opportunity to get to know your family and support your needs this summer!
I have extensive experience working with children and youth in a variety of educational and support settings. I currently work as an Educational Assistant with the Halton District School Board, where I support students with diverse learning needs, from behavioural and emotional challenges to developmental and communication delays. I also have hands-on experience providing one-on-one support to children in crisis and helping them navigate their school day safely and confidently. In addition to my school board role, I’ve worked as a Direct Support Worker for organizations such as Community Living Guelph Wellington and Central West Specialized Developmental Services (CWSDS), supporting children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and complex needs. These roles have strengthened my patience, adaptability, and ability to build meaningful connections through consistency and compassion. I also volunteered as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, where I worked with young girls in school-based programs—focusing on social-emotional development, self-esteem, and positive peer relationships.
