I'm Tessa, a fun, kind, compassionate, and driven student currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am originally from Toronto, Ontario, which is where I gained most of my childcare experience. My family is Irish/Canadian, and we have a very large extended family. Growing up we spent a lot of time at big family gatherings filled with kids. I think being around young kids all the time as a teenager is why I love to care for kids so much now. I feel it is in my nature. In terms of interests and hobbies, I am a dancer and an all-around lover of the arts. I am very fond of animals and music, and my grounding principle is that kindness is key. If hired, I would be more than happy to incorporate things I love, like animals and crafts, for example, to enrich your child's time with me (I would make adjustments based on the child's interests, of course). My name is Tessa, and I am a kind, outgoing, and driven student currently based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Because I am a student, I am not available for full-time hours. However, anyone in need of an occasional sitter with lots of experience, I am your girl! Formally, I have 2 years of experience in childcare working as an early childhood assistant at Leaside Daycare Centers located in Toronto, Ontario. However, I have been babysitting and caring for children for most of my life. In these positions I learned how to properly care for children ranging from infants to school-agers. Some notable skills I have acquired through this experience include the proper procedure for diaper changes and assisting younger children in the washroom, numerous different behaviour management techniques, various activities that can be both enjoyable and beneficial based on a child's age group, and so much more.
