Maya B.
My name is Maya I am a Dalhousie MA student, big sister, and animal lover. For the past two years I took a gap year between my undergraduate degree which I completed at Dal and my goal to continue further studies. During this break I worked as a nanny for a 4 year old and a 9 year old. I will miss working as a their nanny so much but am excited for this new chapter as well. Although I will be in school I am still looking for a part time job to match my academic commitments. I have experience working with children from a variety of age groups - from little ones aged 1-2 years, to older children over 10 years. As the eldest of five siblings, I have a natural understanding of childcare, evident in both my professional and personal life. In addition to my enthusiasm and warm nature, I have been trained in First Aid and CPR. I have also completed my High Five (principles of healthy childhood development training). This training, coupled with my educational background that includes a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in History and a minor in English and a forthcoming Master's Degree, supports me to provide a safe and stimulating environment for your children. I am also more than capable of performing several household duties such as cooking, laundry, organizing, and even pet care. My versatility extends to my ability to adapt to different dietary rules and handle multiple children at once the most of which has been 10 at once as a camp councillor. I am also equipped with the important skill of working with children with disabilities. I have learned to do this through the care of children I have worked with at camp who had disabilities and also through the care of my siblings one of which is on the spectrum and one who has ADHD. My availability spans throughout the day for most of the week - Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for mornings, afternoons and evenings; with Wednesday and Friday for mornings and evenings. Given that I am a non-smoker, comfortable with commuting, and a proud pet owner of a lovely cat named Nala, you can be assured that I will care for your children and your home as if they were my own. I look forward to sitting down with you to discuss how my skills and experience make me a good match for your family. Note: I am willing to undergo a police check if required for your peace of mind.
