I am a believer of experiencing this world in many ways, exploring all the variations it has to offer and sharing this love with children and youth. Experiential learning is a wonderful thing in a world that pulls us towards screens, as it gets children and youth alike a taste of real things! It connects physical learning with cognitive, as the concepts turn into connections and learning becomes a full-body experience, socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively. I love to support the children and youth I spend time with in their interests, as well as helping them experience things they haven't before. In connection to this I also believe in letting children and youth freely explore the world, concentrating in their own manner, like spending hours by the water, being pulled towards what draws them in. This aids in the growth of self-identity, as they trust their intuitions, what interests them, their choices, and helps develop natural concentration that will be used in all walks of life. About ME! I love to cook and share this with the children I spend time with! Being creative always draws me in as I try my hand in crocheting, sewing, woodworking, painting and general crafting! I am currently a student, and looking to spend my summer building fun relationships with families, supporting them in any ways I can!
I have been working in the Early Childhood field for over 10 years now and have experienced a broad range of childcare centres with children and families from diverse backgrounds. Alongside working as an ECE, I have nannied for many families over the years, caring for up to 4 children at a time, with a huge focus on calm communication and recreational therapy as a means of behaviour guidance. On top of my ECE certification, I am in my 4th year of a Child and Youth degree, expanding my knowledge into the youth sector. I love to work with families and get to know their specific needs and ways of being, supporting both children and parents!
