As have already said separately my professional background lies in mental health and addiction support work. Through my experience taking care of young adults and adults with autism, I have realized that my heart lies in early childhood education. With my experience in teaching young children piano have found my goal to earn my ECE diploma and subsequently teaching young children, music, mindfulness, art, and wherever the child's interest lies. I am passionate about teaching basic life skills and basic mental health skills to young children to be independent in a positive setting. Although I have not obtained any Montessori certification yet, I hope to incorporate their theories into childcare and Piano teaching. For example I currently have a piano student who has a hard time focusing on the music. When hearing the melody he has no trouble relating the music back. Therefore I added Disney music to his repertoire (he loves disney) which allowed him to have more interest in music principles rather than just the melody. I used his interests in my lessons to help him grow his music knowledge which also made him want to practice more. I grew up in a meddle class household and am very grateful for the opportunities I have been given. My parents taught me and my younger brothers to always help others. My mom is a piano teacher and taught from our home all throughout my childhood. This allowed me to be very close to my mom and brothers. I value family very highly in my life and others. Through my life I have also had a very creative side due to music being so involved all the time. In addition I have also found love for painting and crocheting. With this creative side I have led workshops to young adults struggling with mental health. I am extremely passionate about involving music and the arts in my life and teaching with young children. I have always been kind and caring with utmost acceptance to everyone I've met. Although I don't have a ton of experience taking care of really young children (newborn- age 2) I am confident that I will learn quickly through my human qualities. I have first aid and CPR for newborn and young children and I am positive that I will improve my skills in taking care of young children to grow my experience. In conclusion I hope to take my passions of kindness, love, music, the arts, and mental health awareness tomorrow childcare skills and grow my career as an ECE in the future.

The majority of my childcare experience involves music, teaching, and the occasional opportunity to babysit. My background lies in addiction support work and taking care of adults with special needs. I worked at Wyndham House in Guelph for just over a year where my responsibilities included support with metal health, drug addiction, teaching basic needs to young adults, and teaching basic life skills. During my time there I also had the opportunity to guide mindfulness and music workshops to those living in the group home. In addition I have also taught piano and voice to young children and children with autism in a small capacity for the past 6 years. I have completed my Beginner Piano Pedagogy with the Royal Conservatory of Music helping me teach all required discipline while keeping Montessori principles in mind. I have also had the opportunity to lead children's choirs and teach music theory to groups of children. Throughout my time of support care work and teaching music I have realized that I wish to work with young children full-time. I am currently enrolled to begin an ECE diploma in September which will be done fully online and will in no way effect my availability to work. In terms of childcare and babysitting I have had the opportunity to watch over my neighbor's and friends kids roughly twice a month. I have experience looking after two children at a time of ages 3, 5, 7, and 11 at different times. I also have my first aid and CPR training which will expire in 3 years and can be provided upon request. On top of my experience and certifications my heart lies in all types of creativity. I love painting, crocheting, sewing, and sticker collecting. While babysitting I hope to involve the kids in crafts or music, or wherever the child's interest lies. I am very passionate about following your interests while also mixing in mindfulness to teach kids to have an outlet in this busy world.
