Abigail K.
I'm Abbey, a dedicated and caring full-time first-year student with 3 years of experience in childcare. Currently, I am studying Psychology at Guelph University. I live in residence in Guelph and can start immediately, offering my services on a part-time basis as a live-out nanny. I worked as a hockey coach for children ages 3-5, teaching them how to skate, and later as an overnight camp counselor at Camp Kiway. Being a camp counselor has taught me many lessons and given me the opportunity to bond and care for over 240 different kids in my career. Additionally, in my final year of high school, I was a co-op student working with a grade one class for 4 months. Through these jobs, I have enhanced my knowledge in first aid, bronze cross, and CPR through various trainings, including renewing my First Aid and CPR certifications earlier this year. Ever since I was a kid, I've always had a passion for working with children. I love engaging with them as well as watching them grow and learn. One of my strengths lies in my ability to work with children who have additional needs or present more challenges. During my third year working at camp, I was given the position of "inclusion", which is a higher-ranked staff member who focuses on children who need extra attention. In this role, I also provide support for counselors when they need help. As your babysitter/nanny, I would love to engage with your kids through cooking, crafts, homework help, pet care, and various activities at home. Additionally, I can perform household duties such as meal preparation, laundry, tidying up, and more. I have experience caring for children from ages 3-15 and am comfortable caring for up to four children at once. My driver's license allows me to assist with tasks that require travel or transportation for children. My main goal is for you to relax, knowing your children will be in a safe and healthy environment with someone you trust. I am fluent in English and a proud Canadian citizen. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any specific questions about my past work experiences. I am here to ensure that your children receive compassionate, attentive care that aligns with your family's needs.
Worked as an overnight camp counselor for 3 years at Camp Ki-wa-y. Before that, I worked as a hockey coach teaching children aged 3-7 how to skate. At Camp Kiway, I was involved in taking care of children ranging in age from 5 to 16. Every week in the summer, I was assigned 7-10 kids to be their counselor for that session. Since I was skilled in working with younger children (typically aged 5-7), I ensured that my campers maintained their hygiene throughout the week, as well as making sure they ate and drank enough. As a counselor, my role also involved being in charge of medical forms and ensuring that children took their medications on time. Overall, I could talk endlessly about my love for this job. If you have any further questions about my experience or specific situations, please feel free to reach out.
