My name is Laura, and I am a full-time student at the University of Guelph completing my BA in Psychology this fall. I have a strong background in working with children, including babysitting in my community, training as a provincial camp counsellor, and working at Helping Hands Daycare with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Every child is unique and deserves care that meets their individual needs and interests. I am a hands-on caregiver who enjoys planning and participating in fun activities like playing sports or games, making crafts, exploring outdoors, and encouraging creativity. I genuinely care about what children are doing, which makes our time together more meaningful and helps to build a strong, trusting connection. While I encourage independence and problem-solving, I always offer support and guidance. I have many interests and enjoy adapting activities to match each child's personality and passions. I am comfortable following different family routines and parenting styles and value clear communication to ensure we are always on the same page. In addition to providing attentive childcare, I am happy to assist with household tasks such as meal preparation, tidying up after activities, and helping with laundry as needed. - At Helping Hands Daycare, I cared for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. I was fortunate to have a "rover" position, which enabled me to gain valuable experience with each age group and care for all 90 little ones. I also frequently helped out in the kitchen, where I prepped meals and snacks for each class, washed and dried the dishes, swept and mopped, and did the laundry. - I frequently babysat my teacher's daughter for two years (aged 3-4). This also included light housework and watching their pet dog. - I was fully trained to be a Youth Facilitator at OELC, but unfortunately, I could not put my training to work due to the pandemic.
