Leirin G.
My name is Leirin (pronounced like Erin or Karen), and I am currently 32. I am a farm kid at heart, I grew up on an acreage just outside of Wetaskiwin. I am a book-worm, occasional painter, avid baker and I adore animals and children. I fell into nannying nearly 10 years ago, I was looking for just anything at the time, but I fell in love with the role immediately and have been a nanny for several families since. I have worked with a variety of age-groups, from 1-12 years old, and I also have volunteered for a youth camp in the summer for preteens and teens aged 11-17. I worked for the Boys and Girls club of Wetaskiwin back in High School, and have been babysitting since I was 12. In previous families, I've filled many roles and I take my dedication to being an extension of that family seriously. For one family, I was responsible for making a weekly meal plan, doing the grocery shopping, and cleaning the house fully on a weekly basis, as well as cooking and delivering meals to the farm crew during Seeding and Harvest season, on top of my regular childcare duties. For others, I would occasionally do 'kijiji runs' to buy or sell items for the family. Another yet, I took on the housekeeper position at their fishing lodge for the summer while the husband (a teacher) was home and they requested the help. My approach to nannying is to be gentle and firm. I believe children thrive with some structure and should be given many opportunities to learn and develop their skills, whether it be simply colouring a picture, playing a game, watching caterpillars grow, making a new craft, exploring the world around us, or even reading and listening along with books; I believe there's potential in every day with a child to help them grow, and have a little fun. Though I live in the Wetaskiwin, I am willing to drive out for work if I find the right family; a previous family I nannied for was an hour commute. I am incredibly positive, creative, tidy, and energetic. I have been vaccinated, and have my Infant and regular First Aid training, with the level C and CPR certificate. I hope to hear from you!
I have most recently been a care giver for two children, aged 3 and 5, though I have nannied for several families over the last several years. Some of my duties have included, but are not limited to: Assist parents with child care and may assist with household duties such as grocery shopping. Plan activities out of the home and take the children Supervise and care for children in employer's residence Plan, prepare and serve meals for children and for harvest crew during busy season Perform light housekeeping duties Oversee children's activities, such as meals and rest periods Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment in the home Instruct children in personal hygiene Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development Guide and redirect undesirable behaviour according to the methods requested by the parents
