My name is Danielle. I am a mother of three. My daughter, aged 29, and her wife are both nursing assistants. My eldest son, aged 27, is currently at NAIT brushing up his skills in Business I.T. My youngest son, aged 23, and his girlfriend purchased their first home earlier this year. I am very proud of my children's accomplishments. As for myself, before Covid hit, I was providing after-school care for two families. I am looking for something minimal, 5-15 hours per week. I am up to date on both flu and Covid immunizations. I have my Childcare Level 2 certification. I do not have an updated criminal record check, but I am willing to get one. I volunteer at Sturgeon General Hospital and am on the SHAVA (Sturgeon Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer Association) board. I have been there since 2016 to the present. I am a very happy, easy person to get along with. I have always loved working with children. In addition to my volunteering, I also enjoy long walks and swimming. My positivity and smile often become infectious.

Being a stay-at-home mother, I have experience assisting teachers in children's early school years, running a Dayhome following all daycare rules (programming, providing nutritional snacks and lunches, and ensuring lots of outdoor time), offering after-school care, working as a nanny, and babysitting.

I volunteer for a non profit organization called SHAVA (Sturgeon Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer Association). I started in March 2016 and still continue to volunteer. Before Covid I would help visitors and patients find their way to visit a loved one or to make it to an appointment in the hospital. Also do some time visiting and playing card games with patients. I would help with the parking machine and also help with wheelchairs get around. I also helped with students to take them around in groups to learn about the different areas of the hospital and importance of them. After Covid hit I became a Board member. I am still working with the Board. Im very excited to additionally start a new venture working in the SHAVA gift shop in the hospital.

This family was looking for a driver every other week for September and October 2024. I was able to pick up 2 of their daughters (6 and 9) from school to an extracurricular activity in a timely and safe manner. The girls and I had many conversations between point A and B. My favourite one would have to be their discussions on finding a family to sponsor this Christmas. They talked with such excitement and enthusiasm on the things they could gather and make for a family less fortunate.

Volunteer
Up until March of 2020 I worked at the information desk inside the hospital. I informed visitors where to see patients as well as patients coming in for day surgery. I helped with both patients and visitor issues, being present for patients who wished to communicate, organizing, cleaning, hospital tours and one on one patient time. Since 2021 I have been a board member. We meet (Zoom) once a month, organize fundraisers, deal with cash, organize people for fundraisers as well as a Summer social to thank all those who volunteer through the hospital.

I am a mature female who enjoys spending time with children because they bring a view of life that cannot be matched. We as adults may not have time to see the details, but children and their curiosity remind us of how much more there is to life. That is one of the many things I love about kids.
