Mackenzie L.
My name is Mackenzie and I have been around kids nearly my whole life! I’m the oldest sister of 3 and have endless amounts of love and care to give out! I am currently single with no children, I move around a lot and enjoy my independence so I just haven’t bothered to settle down! I have lived in cities like Kelowna, Banff, Victoria and Melbourne (Australia). I’ve lived in my van, rock climbing around southern BC and AB as well as living in it whilst travelling around the island! I love adventure but I don’t need to travel to scratch that itch! I love walking around town and exploring new places and I’m equally happy staying home watching a good movie or reading. I’m easy going and enjoy having fun but I believe in organized structure to keep life together! Overall I’m a pretty positive person and choose to see the good in people and life! :)
Growing up, I was always a camp cabin leader, in charge of up to 10 girls at a time with a partner. When I turned 18, I moved to Australia and took care of my best friend through her last trimester and the first year of her baby's life before coming home. While living in Kelowna, I would babysit for the neighborhood, mostly for a little girl who lived across the street before I moved to Victoria, BC. While there, I started working for a restaurant called "The Cottage, " which was a family restaurant with a playground inside where I was the child minder. Unfortunately, that business closed, but from that job, I met a lovely family. The mother's name is Baylea, and I met her family when she was pregnant with her youngest, Rhys. I cared for her three kids until I left Victoria to live in my van and rock climb around southern BC & AB during COVID. I have been living in Edmonton for a year, getting my bearings in the city, and I am hoping to find another family to support and be a tiny part of.
I have completed nearly all of a Community Service and Education Assistant program, including completing two practicums in schools. I did not complete the practicum working with elderly people with disabilities due to COVID but I have worked with dementia and I have family members with Down syndrome so I’m quite comfortable caring for anyone with a developmental disability
