My name is Vicky. I am happily married and have two children, both grown up now. I originally came from Kenya, and am now a Canadian citizen. I enjoy a bit of gardening and have a few house plants (although my husband seems to think I have more than a few!) I love to be helpful, to give people an improvement to their standard of living, especially using my HCA training. It feels good to know what and how to help someone to have a better day. I love to hear the stories my older clients have about their lives, families, careers, and all the places they have lived and visited. I am a registered Health Care Aide under Alberta Health Care Directory. I have 1 year experience working in a group home setting and 3 years working in Assisted Living Facilities with residents/clients affected by Dementia, mental health issues, brain injury and many other conditions. My philosophy is to treat people with respect, dignity and compassion. I love to find joy in little things in life.

I worked in a Childrens home for 4 years before I came to Canada. I was actively involved in day-to-day activities, such as coordinating schooling, organizing health care & first aide, managing conflicts between children, ensuring a proper diet, and many other aspects of their lives. After this, I worked as a volunteer for several months at a special needs school. I was involved in preparing food and feeding, toileting, assisting children with classes, moving children to different classrooms this was just before I came to Canada. After I arrived in Canada, I obtained my HCA certification and worked with adults for several years. I was able to return to working with children in 2023. I am competent with Tracheostomy care & suctioning, G-tube management, Oxygen and humidity therapy, tracking and documenting vital signs, Medication administration, providing personal care to children, and overnight care without sleeping. I have a stepson, now in his twenties, who is severely affected with autism. I have a lot of experience with him and his unique condition. I have worked with children from the ages of one year old up to eighteen years.
