Tirpat S.
I'm a recent graduate from UBC in Oceanography and Biology, and an experienced educator currently pursuing a Masters of Education. I grew up both in the Lower Mainland and around the world with a big family, so I've spent my whole life taking care of kids. I love working with children and am eager to provide childcare out of a personal passion; I think kids have as much to teach me as I can teach them. I feel strongly about patience, compassion, and imaginative play as pillars of childcare. My hobbies including reading, writing, crafts, hiking, baking, and learning new things! I love pets, too, and just generally staying busy, so I am very comfortable with other tasks such as catsitting and housekeeping.
I currently work as teaching manager at the Pacific Museum of Earth, exploring earth sciences with children of all ages. I also have experience of over 6 years as a tutor for Grades 6-12, a summer camp and after-school care instructor with UBC Geering Up and Fresh Roots Farms, and a private babysitter for infants and younger kids. My work has primarily focused on screen-free experiential education and place-based learning. Please press the green icon and contact me by phone to chat as the message capabilities here are limited!
