Tanya B.
My name is Tanya, I am an experienced, dedicated, and hardworking caregiver in SW Calgary. My creative and empathetic personality shines in my love of music, storytelling, and arts and crafts projects. I have a music degree in Voice, and know how to play three instruments. One of my life goals is to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle, and to help others do the same; I am always looking for new ways to stay active and eat healthy. Dedicated to developing relationships based on trust and open communication, I work hard to build and maintain meaningful relationships in my work and personal life. I love teaching, especially learning and applying effective learning strategies based on my understanding of human development and neuroscience principles. I also base my teaching strategies and modelling on trauma informed care principles, practising self- care that the individuals I work with can explore as well. I combine my love of teaching and my passion for helping individuals develop and grow in who they are and what they love. I love inspiring and helping them explore life in a healthy and meaningful way.
For the past year, I've been leading a team that provides 24/7 care for an individual with complex special needs. Utilizing my experience as an Early Childhood Educator and business owner, I helped to build and care for the team and the individual. Creating personalized educational activities, policies, routines, and systems for the team, I helped to organize an efficient framework that would help the individual grow and worked one on one with them to achieve theirs and their family's goals. Alongside my work with the individual, I have also been working as an early childhood music educator, where I go into day-cares and lead music and movement activities in all of their classes building relationships with the teachers and children. My career in childcare has been extensive, beginning from the early age of 12 with the usual babysitting opportunities and continuing with working in my family's day-home after school, to teaching music lessons to children during and after my degree, and continuing with my most recent experiences as an early childhood educator and caregiver. I have developed a passion for helping children grow through catered educational experiences, providing a healthy and safe environment, and a relationship based on trust.
