Shelby D.
Caring for children has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the past 10+ years, I’ve worked with families in Calgary and abroad, looking after little ones from newborns to school-aged kids. I’ve been a long-term nanny for several families, an au pair in Switzerland, and a trusted babysitter for many more — often stepping in to provide overnight and extended care while parents were away. What I love most about this work is building strong, lasting relationships with the children and families I care for. I enjoy creating a safe and loving environment where kids can grow, learn, and feel supported. Whether that means driving them to school and activities, cooking family meals, helping with homework, or simply spending the afternoon playing and laughing together, I’m happiest when I know I’m making their lives easier and their days brighter. I also understand how important it is to support the whole household. Alongside childcare, I’m comfortable managing errands, groceries, and travel routines, making sure everything runs smoothly so parents can relax knowing things are taken care of. Families often describe me as dependable, kind, and adaptable — someone who can step in with confidence, whether it’s for a busy weekday routine or a family trip abroad. As I prepare to begin my master’s degree in 2026, I’m excited to continue supporting families here in Calgary with both full-time and casual care.
I am a professional nanny with over 10 years of experience, including long-term positions with three families in Calgary and an au pair placement in Switzerland. My expertise extends well beyond childcare — I have managed full household responsibilities such as cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, and transporting children to school and activities. Abroad, I combined childminding with English language support, helping children grow academically as well as personally. Families trust me because I bring professionalism, adaptability, and a calm, structured approach that makes their lives easier and their children feel safe, engaged, and supported. I am preparing to begin a master’s degree in September 2026 and am open to both full-time and casual work in Calgary for the year ahead. With my extensive background and proven reliability, I provide families with exceptional care and peace of mind.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Communications at Mount Royal University, graduating on the Dean’s List. Alongside my studies, I gained extensive childcare experience as a long-term nanny. Looking ahead, I am preparing to begin my master’s degree in September 2026, and in the meantime I am seeking nanny work in Calgary for the year ahead.
