Paola M.
Graduated in Biological Sciences, at the beginning of my career I worked for a secondary school as a teacher (math and science) and volunteered in a hospital lab as a biologist. Then I worked for more than 20 years as an IT Analyst in various business areas like banking, insurance and retail. Then, I moved to Calgary at the end of 2013 with my husband (who works as an engineer), and my daughter who is taking a master degree in Biological Science at the University of Lethbridge. Once we moved to Canada, I volunteered for over one and a half years as a Childcare Assistant for Immigrant Services Calgary. Volunteering helped me gain confidence and improve my English. Moreover, I rediscovered my passion for children, and that convinced me to get all the certifications I needed to work in childcare. Firstly, I got a certificate as Child Development Assistant in April 2015. Then, in July 2015 I got my driving license and in September the certification in First Aid and CPR from the Red Cross. One of my main interests is staying and working with children. During my volunteering activity in Childcare, I was appointed “Volunteer of the month” (November 2014) by Immigrant Services Calgary for the outstanding support given during the previous months. Then in June 2015 I got the certificate of appreciation for outstanding volunteer contributions to the Mosaic Preschool Programs. I worked as a nanny of two boys (3 and 5-year-old) from September 2016 to June 2019 and then for a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl from September 2020 to July 2021. I also teach Italian to children at the Italian School Calgary since September 2018 and to adults at Dante Alighieri Society of Vancouver. My favorite hobbies are reading, walking and cooking. I am caring and sensitive. My being sociable helps me build good relationships with children and my goal is to provide them with essential care and education.

My duties were preparing meals and snacks, feeding, dressing, bathing, changing diapers, playing with them, light housework. The schedule was flexible, depending on the parents’ needs. 3- Nanny of two boys from September 2016 to June 2019. I took care of the two boys who were 3 and 5 years old at the beginning. It was a part-time job of 3 days a week (about 10 hours a day) from September to June, with a break in July and August. My duties were packing school meals, get them ready to go to school, dropping and picking them up at the bus stop, light housework, cooking and feeding the kids in the evening, bathing them, driving them to school, swimming-pool, doctor, parties, parks, etc. Occasionally I took care of them while the parents were on trip for a few days.
