Jess L.
My name is Jess! I am 23 years old and am the oldest of three siblings. I have been married for 3 years to my husband Matt. I was born in Northern Ireland and moved to Canada when I was 7 where I then grew up in Okotoks, AB. I enjoy spending time outside, movies, watching hockey, and learning new hobbies! I currently have started reading more and I am really enjoying it. In the past I have learnt how to crochet, sew, and how to play basic piano and ukulele. I love working with kids, being silly with them, helping support their development into great people, and hearing about the world through their eyes. I am a quick learner and I am willing to try new things. I am usually quiet at first, but as I get to know you I will become more bubbly and enthusiastic. I look forward to hearing from you!
I have worked as a babysitter when I was a teenager for multiple families with 1-5 kids, 5 months-12 years, and with varied disabilities such as autism, developmental delays, and extreme ADHD. While I babysat some responsibilities that I fulfilled outside of direct supervision are: playing with, finding fun activities, and participating for all of the children under my care, preparing and cooking meals, assisting with homework, light cleaning/tidying and bedtime routines. I have also babysat in homes with pets and am comfortable with taking care of (most) dogs basic needs, as requested. I also worked as an ECE for a year in a before and after school program. I was in charge of at most 15 children by myself, aged 5-11 years. I created and implemented programming which included crafts/art, games, sports, and independent projects. I have also worked and volunteered at an overnight summer camp for 7 years, with 4 summers being directly involved with the campers, ages 5-16 years. Some responsibilities from the positions directly involved with the campers are: creating and implementing wide games and activities, supervising cabins (about 8 children) during meals and times when cabin leaders were on a break, and supporting campers that were homesick, injured, or nervous to participate in activities. If you have any questions or would like further information on any of my previous experience, I am happy to provide more information!
