Maddy B.
Experienced caring and responsible nanny/babysitter available to care for children in the SW/SE Calgary or Okoktoks. I’m Maddy. I’m currently a psychology student at U of C, interested in furthering my education in developmental psychology (focus on adolescents). I’m a warm, kind, and empathetic person with a passion for caring for young children. I love creating a fun and nurturing environment that supports their growth and encourages creativity. About Me: I grew up in Manitoba. After graduating, I moved to Victoria, BC, and now I have been here in Calgary for almost three years. While in high school, I was an active student. I played sports, was on student council, performed in musicals, and learned a couple of instruments (clarinet, saxophone, guitar, and my favourite, the ukulele). I focused my optional and elective courses in fine arts. I graduated high school in 2018 with honours in French Immersion. Today, my hobbies include looking after the dogs, studying, travelling, attending concerts, visiting friends, living a healthy lifestyle, and videography and photography. During the last year, I have traveled to Thailand (I also explored Hong Kong, China during a layover), Greece, Turkey, and Mexico. I’ve currently been taking part-time university studies to balance my workload. I’ve enjoyed working in the customer service industry. However, I have missed working with kids. I am hoping to find work caring for children, as I would love to continue working with youth in the future. :) Located in SW Calgary, Available to also work in SE Calgary and Okotoks. I will have open availability this summer. My schedule for the Fall 2025 semester, starting the first week of September: I have classes on Tuesday mornings (available after 12:15pm) and classes on Thursdays (available after 3:50pm). Please message me if you have any questions or to learn more about me.
My Childcare Experience: I received my babysitting certification at the age of 12 and have since then cared for 10+ local families back home in Manitoba. During my high school years, I casually babysat for 10+ families in my hometown, caring for up to three children at a time, ranging from infants to 12 years old. As a teenager, during school holidays and breaks, I cared for two school-age children full-time as a nanny. I also attended camp counsellor training at a sleepover camp during my high school years. After graduating high school, I held a summer student position at a local community daycare facility with around 60 kids, ages 8 months to 5 years. I have taken university-level Child and Youth Care Services courses during my time at UVic. During the midst of the pandemic in spring 2020, I was a full-time nanny for a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old. I am currently a student at the University of Calgary studying psychology, hoping to further pursue developmental psychology, specifically working with adolescents. I have previously completed a marketing diploma. During my full-time nanny positions, some of my responsibilities included: • Prepared meals • Educated on how to safely handle food allergies • Performed everyday cleaning duties (laundry, dishes, vacuuming, organizing toys) • Followed and assisted with morning and nighttime routines • Cared for family pets • Screen-free time • Helped with homework and at-home assignments during the COVID lockdown • Trusted with parents’ vehicle (as well as my personal vehicle) to transport children to school, activities, and the homes of their friends and family • Cared for children outside of the family home (with permission), such as at the park, grocery store, beach, museum, movie theatre, swimming pool, splash park, restaurants, and kid-friendly community events • Planned and organized arts and crafts, baking, kid-friendly science experiments, and treasure hunts • Imaginative play • Outdoor activities (shooting pucks, soccer, tag, drawing with chalk, painting, trampoline, imaginary play, walking the dogs)
