Lana G.
I’m Lana! I’m a first-year student at Mount Royal and CPR/First Aid certified. I used to volunteer as a reading buddy at the Calgary Public Library, where I helped kids build confidence in reading using my AP English background. I’ve also cared for my younger sister from infancy to toddlerhood—she’s a picky eater, but I’ve always found creative ways to feed her (I’m also a great baker!). I’m patient, love engaging in all kinds of activities (even taught her chess!), and always encourage kids to be kind and think from different perspectives. I’m licensed to drive and have my own car. I live right off Centre Street, so inner-city locations work great. I’d love to help support your family and get to know your kids!
During my time volunteering as a Reading Buddy at the Calgary Public Library, I worked closely with children to help them build confidence and develop their reading skills. I created fun, age-appropriate learning activities, helped with homework, and encouraged a positive attitude toward learning. This experience taught me patience, creativity, and how to connect with kids in a supportive and engaging way. I loved being someone they could trust and look forward to seeing each week. On top of that, I took care of my little sister from ages 1 to 4—I kept her busy reading, fed her, and handled other duties. That experience gave me a solid foundation in childcare early on and made me even more excited to continue working with kids in a hands-on role
