I am an Eritrean individual who grew up in Winnipeg and am one of four siblings. My upbringing has shaped my strong sense of family, community, and resilience. After spending most of my life in Winnipeg, I moved to Calgary two years ago to explore new opportunities and experiences. I graduated from high school and, while currently taking a break from university, I am focused on personal growth and gaining work experience. Being part of a close-knit family has taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and maintaining meaningful relationships. My diverse background, combined with the experience of living in different cities, has helped me develop a unique perspective and adaptability in any environment. I’m excited about what the future holds as I continue to grow both personally and professionally.

I babysat my two siblings until they turned 16 and worked at my friend's mom's daycare for three years. I was responsible for providing compassionate and attentive care to children ranging from infants to preschool age. My role included creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment to support their cognitive, physical, and emotional development. I designed and implemented age-appropriate activities, such as arts and crafts, games, and outdoor play, that encouraged creativity and learning. I supervised daily routines, including meal times, naps, and playtime, ensuring that children were comfortable and engaged while promoting positive behavior and social interaction. Regular communication with parents was a key part of my responsibilities, and I provided updates on each child's progress, behavior, and any special needs or concerns. In addition to childcare, I helped prepare educational materials and resources, ensuring the environment was clean, safe, and hygienic in line with health and safety protocols. I also worked collaboratively with my team to plan and coordinate group activities and special events, fostering a structured and enjoyable routine for the children. By using positive reinforcement and maintaining a calm, supportive approach, I was able to manage behavioral issues and create a positive atmosphere for learning and growth.
