Sibiyah B.
I’m Sibiyah! I’m originally from the UK and staying in Canada on a working holiday visa with my partner, Adam. I’m so excited to be here and meet new people :) As a nanny or babysitter, I bring a blend of confidence, self-discipline and empathy to my work. I believe in creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel supported, whether they need someone to be silly and play games with or a firm but kind role model. I’m happy to show discipline when needed but always strive to do so with fairness and understanding. I’m chatty, motivated and enjoy building strong connections with families. Fun and creativity are at the heart of everything I do, from singing along to Disney songs to organising activities that spark imagination and laughter. Some of the activities I enjoy doing in my free time are reading, drawing, walking in nature, cooking, puzzles and board games, watching films, church and spending time with friends.
I’m hoping to be able to feel part of a family, as someone you trust and can rely on. During my early teenage years, I supported local families (usually friends of my mum) who needed someone to occasionally babysit. This involved making dinner for myself and the children, bathing them and helping them to get ready for bed. Depending on their temperament, this involved singing songs or reading stories (I love reading stories out loud!) The children were usually under the age of 10. The youngest child I’ve worked with was less than a year old. During my early twenties, I lived in France for 6 months and in Spain for 3 months and worked with a couple of families, tutoring English to their children or just playing games with them. I love to be silly and have fun! These children were aged between 9 to 13. One sweet girl I worked with had severe autism and I volunteered with a charity for adults with developmental difficulties so have some experience working with disabilities. My mum ran a lot of youth activities in the church and I frequently supported her with mentoring them as well as planning activities. I’d consider myself very empathetic and good at connecting with young people.
