My name is Tess! I love being around kids and tapping into my childlike wonder and excitement! Since moving to Calgary over a year ago, I have been working as a full-time nanny after years spent behind a desk. My childcare experience of over four years includes work with families of up to three children, spanning ages 18 months to 10 years, giving me a balanced perspective and understanding of multiple age groups. Seeing children thrive and grow as human beings is incredibly fulfilling, and fuels my passion for working directly with kids. I love engaging the children in creative play, learning activities and outdoor recreation. In addition to the physical and emotional needs of the children, I am also responsible for the children's laundry, lunch preparation and light housekeeping. I have a personal vehicle for school, activity and playdate transportation and some wonderful kid approved and appropriate car playlists! My interests include nature walks, reading, listening to music (mostly folk and acoustic), and painting. I am not competitive by nature, but I still get excited by sports and board games! I have worked with children and youth in numerous capacities throughout my career. From 2016-2021 I was swimming instructor, working closely with children of all ages and abilities. From 2021-2024 I was an administrative assistant for a child protection lawyer and mediator. For two summers I was an office manager for an overnight summer camp catering to children and youth with serious illness and childhood cancer. This position reignited my passion for working with children. Most recently, I have worked as a full-time contract nanny for three children ages 2, 4, and 6.
