I am a person who thrives on structure and novelty at the same time. With these attributes I can assure that your kids will be engaged and entertained when with me. I value the opinions and feelings of everyone but especially children. Children being unheard just leads to mistrust and resentment. When planning activities or outings, their input will always be considered. I love music, some video games, spending time with my two cats (Luna and Diego), and when the air quality isn’t too high some hiking and camping as well. I’m comfortable around all pets, although I’ve only ever taken care of cats, dogs and fish - not to say I wouldn’t learn how to care for others. I’m a fast learner so anything new I can learn almost immediately. Most of my family lives back home in Ontario. I’ve moved here with my partner and our cats because she’s taking on her Masters Degree at the University of Calgary. I’ve followed to support and enjoy the adventure. My family, like all, had its ups and downs but my parents were always together and I got to grow up with my siblings which is rare when you’re adopted (we share a biological mother). I’ve learned how to cope with the conflicts and the triumphs of siblinghood and family life including the complexities that accompany adoption and separation. I believe this has made me exactly the person people need when they feel lost, confused and need support. On the other side, I know how big small victories can feel when life isn’t tipping in your favour so I will rejoice with your children when they win and be someone to lean on when they don’t. My perspective is always changing as I grow to allow myself to better help others and children, of course, navigate life in a healthy way. I will be a trusted source of comfort for anyone who feels there is no one else and my family has taught me how important that is.
I’ve been an elementary school teacher since 2021. I have a specialization in ECE and Music from my post secondary education. My daily tasks and routines as a classroom teacher gives me skills in organization, conflict management, multitasking, relationship building, professionalism and many other qualities that are necessary to care for children. I’ve had experience caring for infants as well including diaper changes and feeding and am very comfortable with these tasks. I have been a trusted and seeked out babysitter among my family and friends since their kids always have a blast. I can also tutor in all subjects as I typically am teaching them all to 25+ students at once.
