I am a high-energy, ambitious individual with many years of experience with children. I have been in therapy for many years, and have an enormous commitment to growth, connection, and communication. Some of the hardest things I have encountered have been within the last 6 years and they have pushed me to become a more well-rounded individual. The journey has specifically developed my communication skills, understanding, problem solving, and willingness to figure anything and everything out. I have a commitment to fun that allows all of these skills to come together seamlessly. My brother was born with autism, and I was (late-stage) diagnosed with ADHD. My experience with this, along with my time working with special needs children has taught me how to adapt to meet anyone's needs through being curious, never giving up, and always being able to listen. These experience have also taught me enormous amounts about humanness as a whole, and the experience of allllll the emotions that accompany it. My interests are wide ranging and change semi-often. However, world events, philanthropy, coffee, mixology, and dogs remains at the top of the list! I am currently in school to be a dog trainer, did my first year of Uni in my Bachelors of Commerce before having to leave school, and spend a lot of my time studying or with clients! Although these interests make up most of my hobbies some extras include painting, drawing, reading, music, podcasts, board games, and spending time with friends. I really enjoy experiencing the wonder and fun children bring to all of their experiences. As adults it can be an incredible reminder that magic is in even the smallest of things, and pausing for fun solves most things. Through all of my experiences I also recognize that parenting is the hardest work there is. As a result of that I think being able to help parents out and support them is one of the best tasks you can do. The culmination of experiences, growth, and perspective make me the perfect candidate for helping out you and your family!
I have two younger siblings, one that I practically raised. I spent all of my early-late teenage years babysitting my sister and all of her friends. This varied from one child, up to five children at a time. I have cared for children of all ages. I also worked in school as a teachers assistant for work credits and was responsible for teaching/grading/assisting/planing/individual help, and more for over 20 children. Some of those circumstances I was alone with the children, and most of which I was acting as an assistant. I have a wide range of experience in helping kids one on one, including kids with special needs. Additionally in my late teens and early twenties I babysat for a few families where needed. For some of them this included helping with house tasks, sometimes included no childcare but help in other areas, etc. There was one family who really just wanted someone to spend time with their kids so I was either covering for date nights or just hanging out. This included outings to the park, to their activities, to recreation centres to swim (etc), and to the zoo. At one point I was event babysitting for my bosses children. I am unfortunately many years out from these roles and have no maintained contact with any of the families as I moved away. However, my love for children and their wonder for life continues as I look to reenter the workspace.
