Hello prospective families! I am an engaging 27 year old living in East Vancouver, I made the move back to BC after completing my undergraduate degree in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. Since then I have worked with youth aged 5 - 17, first at the YMCA through the Youth Leadership development program, and most recently as a leader for a before and afterschool care program. I believe in play - both structured and unstructured, inviting kids and youth to explore the world around them, and creating a safe space for all! Some of my interests include: spending time in nature, playing games - such as spot it, sardines, uno and speed, crafting, and riding bikes! I look forward to getting to know your family, and am comfortable working with up to 3 children at a time. Critical to my childcare ethos is the idea of healthy bodies and healthy minds, open communication, and learning through experiences. I have about 11 years worth of experience with children. From Guide camps, babysitting as a youth, and caring for my nephews. I was a member of the Girl Guides of Canada for 10 years, where I assisted with aiding younger Guides in daily camp chores/ activities. In my later years as a Guide, I began creating culturally relevant camp recreations (the four main guiding centers around the world, Canada day, etc). Additionally, I volunteered to assist the Brownie leaders (Brownie age 7-8) with the weekly meetings and their activities (tag games, arts and crafts). In my youth, I worked as a babysitter for several families (not all of which are listed); two of which spoke English as a second language. The first job I held was looking after two Afrikaans children aged 1 and 3 years old. I was in charge of playing with them during the day, or working in the evenings putting them to bed. These children spoke no English, so I bridged the Language barrier through miming or puppets. The other bilingual family spoke French, they had three children ranging from infant, toddler and school aged. I looked after them for two years as needed. I was in charge of keeping them entertained, helping with bits of school work, making two healthy meals a day, and getting them to bed on time. All of the Children I have looked after through out the years have been of different ages and genders. Most recently, I cared for my two older nephews (7 and 10). I was responsible for making three healthy meals a day, keeping them active and entertained, and completing mid-level housework. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: Certified Food Safe and First Aid/ AED level C Completed by BA in Modern Languages and cultural studies at the University of Alberta.

My name is Margaryta, but please call me Mei. :) I am a college student graduate with an Associate of Arts degree. Currently I am looking for a part or full-time job related to babysitting, tutoring, or doing household work such as cleaning. Because my mother worked as a nanny in a kindergarten, I have grown up around kids and that made me want to be a nanny as well. Helping her at her job when I got older, volunteering as a babysitter, and working for various families made me realize that I am perfect for the role of a nanny/tutor/household helper because I love children so much and I love helping families. I am also very patient and I pay a lot of attention to the needs and wants of children. Some of my personal hobbies are playing the piano, teaching and learning languages, and playing video games. My goal is to make connection with children and be part of their growth as well as learn from them and grow as a person myself. I am hopeful to find the right job and make great experiences. As for my work experience, I have lots of experience taking care of children aged 2 and older. I worked as a helper in a kindergarten, performing a variety of tasks such as feeding, cleaning, watching over, and playing with children aged 2 to 5. Also, I volunteered as a babysitter in a church. I took responsibility for 10 kids aged 5 to 10 all at once. I have also babysat for various families that reached out to me through this website. I taught many kids the English language, helped them with their homework, played different kinds of games with them always keeping them occupied and taken care of. I also performed many different household tasks, whatever the family needed help with, whether it is cooking or cleaning. These experiences made me capable of taking care of children and helping families in the most efficient and rewarding way. I learned lots of skills such as identifying children's needs and making sure they are always happy and safe while performing tasks such as feeding, cleaning, and playing and I am excited to gain even more experience helping families.

I have worked in marketing for the past ten years and am currently taking a break to reassess and go back to school in a few months. I'd like to find a part time job to prepare for that. Hello! My name is Mariya. I am 19 and currently acquiring my Bachelor of Business Management degree at Simon Fraser University. I am an international student from Ukraine who has lived in Vancouver for almost three years. I enjoy dancing, outdoor sports, photography, and cooking. I have been passionate about babysitting since I was 15. It started when I found myself more interested in spending time with my mom's friend's 4-year-old son than adults while on a collective vacation in Thailand. We formed a mutual bond, and his mom agreed to let me be his nanny. I still babysit him whenever I return to Ukraine, and we are both so excited about it! I then became a counsellor for 4-to 7-year-old children at a kids' camp. I volunteered and worked there for two summers before coming to Canada. I always tried to make their routine fun, which is why the kids liked me. For example, when preparing meals, I engaged them in the process, where they could learn something new, like why we need to strain the flour and how to do that. Or, in the mornings, when it was hard to wake up, we came up with some games that made the process more enjoyable and effective. While working with children, I possess both organizational and entertainment skills. My approach is to respect children, their thoughts, interests and decisions. I prioritize solving any arguments or problems by openly communicating and finding a mutual solution. I try to reach an agreement where both sides feel satisfied instead of assertively imposing my own "correct" views. I find this approach practical and fair. Working at a kid's camp, occasionally babysitting children of two families.
