Donna M.
I have just retired from the education field and a Child and Youth Counsellor. I was employed in this position for 20 yrs. Before that I worked for Children's Aid and was also a foster parent for 25 yrs. I enjoy working with people. I helped my parents with their care when they were sick with cancer and Alzheimer. My background is Scottish and Canadian. I have 3 daughters that are successful in their careers and doing well. My family and friends are important to me and I am always there to help when needed. I like to do a number of activities that include travel, movies, swimming, crafts, walking, and anything that sounds like fun. I hope to work in a position with seniors or with children I think I would be a plus to your company or working privately.
My child care experience started with my own children who are adults now. I was also a foster parent for 25 yrs. During being a foster parent it inspired me to go back to school and study Child and Youth Counsellor. After my schooling I worked for the school board. I was teaching social skills, running counselling groups, one on one counselling and working with the teacher in the classroom. I have just retired from the school board in September 2019 and am looking for something part time in Burlington and surrounding areas.
I did a 3 yr diploma in child and youth work at George Brown College. I also did some University of Ryerson courses. I have taken many courses in my career as a Child and Youth worker.
