Taelan-Brynn T.
Hi my name is Taelan-Brynn but you can call me Tae. I am approaching my fourth year at the University of Guelph where I am working to my Bachelor of Applied Sciences. I am majoring in family studies and human development so a great deal of my course work pertains to working with children and families. When I graduate my ultimate goal is to become a paediatric occupational therapist. Some things about me are that I love going outside, taking walks, playing sports, and reading. I played high level competitive soccer for 14 years and now I am a coach at LittleKickers. When not in school I live with my family and our dog Jake back home. I love all animals and would be happy to take your animals on walks or to the park. I love working with kids and am flexible to work with different ages and different abilities. I also sometimes turn into a bit of a neat freak when it comes to keeping things tidy so helping to clean would be no issue! I would say my best attributes are my patience, adaptability, communication, and leadership. I am always looking to grow and improve myself and my skillset in order to ensure my future success of working with families post graduation. Why do I think I would be a great fit? I am very outgoing and caring person. I love to help to improve the lives of others in anyway that I can. I understand how busy being a parent can be and I would be more than happy to help with their extracurricular activities, entertain them, and help you around the house with whatever you need. My energetic and bubbly personality helps me engage with others and I would like to think that I am funny but you can decide that for yourself! My background working with children in various settings has not only helped me to grow my skillset but it has also grown my love of working with families like yours!
I began babysitting when I was 12 years old and watched children of various ages for about 4 years. Since then I coach soccer for children ages 18 months to 8 years old. Typically I supervise and instruct groups of 12-18 children at once. I have also worked as a teachers assistant within the Wellington Catholic District School Board in a grade 3 classroom. I have worked with and supervised children with various disabilities in both school, and home settings. Within these experiences I have developed stronger communication, adaptability, and organizational skills. Working with children of various ages has allowed me to be better equipped to engage in age appropriate activities, deescalate conflicts, and support them with their daily activities to meet goals set by parents, teachers, and themselves. I also am fully trained in First Aid and CPR through RedCross.
