Sofia A.
I immigrated to Canada with my family at the age of five and have grown up in a vibrant, multicultural environment that shaped both my values and my creativity. As the eldest child, I naturally stepped into a caregiving role early on, supporting my parents and helping raise my younger sister, who is five years younger than me. These early experiences taught me patience, empathy, and adaptability, qualities I now bring confidently into both caregiving and tutoring. Over the years, I’ve gained meaningful childcare experience caring for my sister and the children of family friends, with ages ranging from 3 to 15. My responsibilities included preparing meals, organizing educational and creative activities, supervising outings, managing bedtime routines, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. I’ve also provided tutoring support to these children, especially in elementary and high school level subjects, offering help with homework, reading, and encouraging confidence in learning. During high school, I worked as a peer tutor where I assisted classmates with a variety of subjects and exam preparation. I hold a DEC in Visual Arts and will be starting my studies in University in fall 2026. My artistic background inspires me to infuse creativity into every aspect of childcare, from crafting to music to imaginative play. In my free time, I enjoy painting, decorating, reading, and spending time outdoors. Picnics in the park with friends are some of my favorite moments! I’m known for being warm, responsible, and attentive. I aim to create a nurturing environment that encourages both fun and learning, while building meaningful relationships with children and families alike.
From the age of 12, I began gaining meaningful childcare experience by looking after my younger sister and the children of family friends, ranging in age from 3 to 15. Though these were informal roles, they required a great deal of responsibility, adaptability, and initiative. My duties included preparing balanced meals and snacks, designing age-appropriate and engaging activities that often incorporated learning, supervising park outings, managing bedtime routines, and maintaining a tidy environment. These experiences taught me how to foster a safe, nurturing, and stimulating atmosphere while building genuine connections with both children and parents.
