Part-Time Household Helper / Family Assistant for Family with Newborn and Cat
About Our Family We are a warm and respectful family who has recently welcomed a newborn into our home. We also have a cat, so comfort around pets is important. As we adjust to life with a new baby, we are looking for a reliable, caring, and proactive person to provide part-time household support. Initially, this role will be primarily focused on helping with the day-to-day running of our home so that we can spend more time caring for and bonding with our newborn. At this stage, the position is not primarily a childcare role. Direct care of the baby is generally not required, aside from supervising our newborn for up to approximately one hour in the morning while we get ready for the day. However, we are looking for someone interested in building a long-term relationship with our family, as the role will gradually evolve to include more direct childcare responsibilities as our baby grows and our familyās needs change. Newborn Supervision and Evolving Childcare Responsibilities Initially: Watching our newborn for up to approximately one hour in the morning while we prepare for the day Ensuring the baby is safe, comfortable, and appropriately supervised during this brief period Informing us promptly if the baby requires feeding, changing, or parental attention At the beginning of the position, no independent outings with the baby, bathing, overnight care, or primary newborn caregiving are expected. As Our Baby Grows: Over time, and based on mutual comfort, experience, and trust, the role is expected to expand to include direct childcare responsibilities. These may include: Caring for our child independently for longer periods Feeding, diaper changes, dressing, and supporting daily routines Engaging in age-appropriate play, reading, and developmental activities Preparing simple meals or snacks for the child once appropriate Helping maintain the childās play areas, clothing, and belongings Accompanying the child on walks or local activities, when mutually agreed upon We are hoping to find someone who can become a trusted and consistent presence in our childās life as they grow. Main Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Household Support Laundry for the household, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothing and linens Light housekeeping and general tidying Keeping common living spaces, kitchen, bedrooms, and baby-related areas neat and organized Changing bed linens and towels as needed Loading and unloading the dishwasher Wiping kitchen counters and maintaining general kitchen cleanliness Light vacuuming, sweeping, and surface cleaning Helping maintain a calm, clean, and organized home environment Cooking and Meal Preparation Preparing simple, healthy meals for the household Assisting with meal preparation, such as washing and chopping ingredients Preparing snacks or easy-to-reheat meals Helping keep the refrigerator and pantry organized Occasional grocery list preparation or grocery pickup Errands and General Assistance Running occasional local errands, such as picking up groceries, pharmacy items, or household necessities Helping unpack and organize purchases Assisting with small household organization projects as needed What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Kind, trustworthy, dependable, and respectful Experienced in household support, housekeeping, family assistance, or similar work Comfortable being in a home with a newborn Comfortable around cats Organized, efficient, and able to take initiative Gentle and calm, particularly in a home with a young baby Able to maintain discretion and respect our familyās privacy Comfortable preparing simple meals and assisting with errands Non-smoking Additional Requirements References required Background check preferred Ability to communicate clearly and reliably Valid driverās licence and access to a vehicle would be an asset for errands, but may not be required depending on availability and location Ability to perform light physical household tasks, including laundry, tidying, and carrying groceries What We Offer A welcoming, respectful, and appreciative family environment A part-time role with clear expectations at each stage The opportunity for a longer-term position that evolves as our child grows Consistent hours based on mutual availability A calm home environment where your support will make a meaningful difference during an important time for our family
