Our children are 14 and 11 and are largely self-sufficient. They do not need entertaining. They need picking up from school, something good to eat, and someone calm and reliable in the house while they get on with homework and prepare for piano, dance or soccer. The household side is an important part of the role. Depending on what needs attention that day, this could include meal preparation, laundry and changing beds, keeping the kitchen and main living spaces in order, light household cleaning, loading or unloading the dishwasher, groceries and errands, watering plants and the garden, receiving deliveries, and noticing when household staples need replacing. If you genuinely enjoy cooking and are confident preparing healthy family meals, that is a big plus for us. The after-school piece is straightforward. At around 3:00 p.m., you will pick up both children from two nearby schools, bring them home, prepare a snack or early dinner, provide light homework supervision if needed, and help make sure they have what they need for their evening activities. Our 14-year-old is anaphylactic to peanuts and tree nuts. Strict avoidance in our kitchen is non-negotiable. You must also be comfortable carrying and, if ever necessary, using an EpiPen. We will provide training and make sure you feel confident. You will need a valid driver’s licence and your own reliable car, as both school pickup and occasional errands require driving. Mileage and vehicle expenses related to the job will be reimbursed. Pay will depend on experience. I work from home and will usually be here, but I spend much of the afternoon in meetings. What we really need is someone who enjoys taking care of the day-to-day household tasks that make a busy family life feel more manageable. Typical responsibilities would include laundry, folding and putting clothes away, changing bedsheets, tidying and organizing bedrooms and common areas, loading and unloading the dishwasher, cleaning out and organizing the fridge, watering plants, putting out recycling, light household organization, grocery shopping and simple meal or snack preparation. We already have a cleaning company, so this is not a deep-cleaning role. It is more about keeping things tidy, organized and under control in between cleans. There also be some childcare involved, including picking the boys up from school, being at home with them after school or driving them to activities. A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record would therefore be a big asset, and we can provide a vehicle for work-related driving. We are ideally looking for help **two to three afternoons per week**, generally for around **3–4 hours per day**, with some flexibility for the right person. We're a family of four in East Vancouver near Commercial Drive looking for a live-in nanny to join us starting full time (40 hours a week) in January, 2027. Our kids are 4 and 2. They're active, creative, and genuinely sweet, and we're looking for someone who will enjoy them. We're both busy professionals and we need real help with our kids and our household. This role is a mix of childcare, cooking, and keeping our home organized. Hours 40 guaranteed hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday. We want to be upfront that this won't be an exact science. The shape below is our general rhythm, but our work weeks shift and some days will look different. We're looking for someone comfortable with a schedule that flexes rather than one that runs like clockwork, and we'll give as much notice as we can when things move. Mornings, roughly 7:30 to 9:30 Our busiest stretch and the most consistent part of the week. We often have early meetings, so we need reliable help with breakfast, getting both kids dressed and out the door, and school and daycare drop-off. Our older child is an 11-minute walk to school and our younger is a 20-minute walk to daycare, or a very short drive. Then about 1-2 hours a day after the kids are gone (flexible on timing). Cleaning up from breakfast, laundry through to folded and put away, resetting the main rooms, keeping the kids' clothes, toys and gear organized, staying on top of the entryway and the kitchen, and running errands or the grocery shop as needed. We have a cleaner twice a month for deep cleaning, so this is upkeep and organization rather than scrubbing, but we need it done consistently and well. Late afternoon through bedtime, usually from around 4:30. Pickup, driving to activities, dinner, bath and bedtime. We'd count on you to cook dinner for the whole family about three nights a week. We cover the other nights. Some days pickup is earlier or later depending on activities and our work commitments. We like to be with our kids as much as we can, so most evenings we're home and you're handing off partway through, but we do have work engagements and the occasional date night where you'd be doing dinner and bedtime on your own. Fridays end after the morning block. Your Friday afternoons and evenings are yours. Occasionally we might ask for a Friday date night and we'd give you plenty of notice. Weekends Most of the weekends we will spend as a family, but we occasionally need help, typically a weekend morning or a few hours so we can get out. This would fall within your 40 hours. And we would give you notice. For this job, we want to find someone who is proactive. We're not able to hand you a detailed list every morning. We need someone who sees what needs doing and does it. This matters most when one of us is away for work, which is roughly one week-long trip each per quarter (not at the same time). During those weeks you'd be covering more of the household on your own so the solo parent can focus on work, so we're looking for someone who's comfortable stepping up when it's needed. You will have a private room in the second floor (the kids' room and our room is also upstairs). We have a shared bathroom upstairs and another one downstairs. We have a backyard with patio furniture that you can enjoy. Room to garden if you enjoy that. Pay/Benefits We are looking to pay between 22-25 /hour depending on experience. Two weeks paid vacation per year, and five paid sick days. One week of vacation we'd like you to line up with our family travel, and the rest is yours to choose with reasonable notice.
