My parents are from Sri Lanka but I was born in Lavale, Quebec and then moved to Scarborough when I was 7. I've been in Ottawa for the past few years for university but my family still resides in Scarborough. Along with my parents, I have one younger brother who is 20. My cousins have lived in front of our house since we moved to Scarborough so we grew up alongside them since childhood. My hobbies growing up were doing hurdles for track and field, painting landscapes and collecting vinyl records. I've always been passionate about my hobbies and interests in school, primarily healthcare. I'm hoping to finish this degree and apply for medical school shortly. I'm currently in my fourth year pursuing Health Sciences at Carleton University. I've been tutoring my younger cousins with their school homework for as long as I can remember. I've always been interested in healthcare, which in turn has evolved my passions surrounding tutoring. In addition to academic tutoring, I enjoy painting in my leisure and I teach privately on occasion.

Hi! My name is Amena, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa. I studied Biomedical Science with a minor in Psychology. I am currently looking to get into medical school. I believe any child can learn anything if we can learn their learning style . Unlocking a child’s mind and potential is an adults responsibility . All children are full of curiosity and are sponges of knowledge we just need to Capture their minds in a fun way and learn as adults how to keep it in focus in a fun way . Really it is us as adults who need to learn more . Children need to teach us how to teach them . We need to be learners of our Students and be observers of them more than talkers to them Allowing them to lead us to their gifts and ways of learning .
